This idea was given to me by my dear friend, =Ehryn I was going to surprise her with it when I met her for the first time at ALCON but... I lost my patience At the mention of ALCON, this is one of the paintings I will be selling there when I go!

This is officially the first canvas painting I have ever done for myself. I finally bought some canvases and acrylics and began this. It means I can practice painting for once, not just make it up as I go along as I have done with school work for god knows how long

I've had to use acrylics in school since gcse but I was surprised to revel recently in the fact that they feel exactly the same as tubed watercolours. They're a tad thicker in consistency and it dries slightly slower, but apart from that they just feel the same! I'm pretty sure they come in equally bright colours too

This does look better in real life. The lighting (as ever) has caused some problems when taking the photo. I've had to use the burn tool on the left side of the canvas but there's nothing I can do about the blurriness and desaturation :/ One day I will find a way of taking a decent photo of a canvas!

It is a shame that the camera didn't catch all the colours. It was painted quite well, especially the trees. Using the greens in the water also provides a nice transition from all the flora and fauna.
The figures are quite good, but the face of the woman seems a little too round-faced than what you had intended perhaps?? I'm not entirely sure :/

hurrr.. I do see but girls have quite round features like their forehead and jawlines, whereas guys are more angular or flat featured. Lucky excuse ..

Seriousness has both pros and cons...the true trick comes from telling which may be which

It was fun and even with Binks leaving, I'm going to look into finding better accomodation for film night

Yeah, I suppose that is the true skill
Okay cool... although I don't want to sound negative or nasty, I thought I should mentioned something... I don't think I would be happy sitting in a church or youth centre... I dont want to make things difficult but I'm not comfortable in those kinds of places. I don't have very good memories of them. Hopefully you'll understand?

Adonael In reply to Nixity [2010-08-27 01:29:58 +0000 UTC]

I understand that those sorts of places you're not comfortable with, but just so you know, the actual room we will be using is at the back and it looks nothing like a church. It's sort of like a big hall (so we will have more room for more members and for just running about and being crazy) with a stage at one end with a MAHUSSIVE projector screen for our filmage and there's a cosy room adjacent with lots of inflatable sofas and huge bean bags to sit on so we can get all the seats from there and maybe just get all cosy in that room since it's warm

Also there is a kitchen area to cook lots of food with a proper serving table. Think of it as a sort of village hall set up but obviously, we'll add our own flare to it so feels more homely. I'll get some posters and stuff for the film atmosphere as well because I really don't want to intimidate people with where the location will be and you're a valued member that I love to see attend and the club will be so much quieter without you

I still understand if you don't like the idea and it's not a dead cert but it's just that it's a bigger place that I may be able to hire for free you see (I sound really cheeky )

Are you calling me loudmouthed? >XO I'm kidding
Yes, that sounds much better, I feel a bit better about it. Is this a place in chesterfield? If its convenient for you then it would be great if we could use it. I don't really know how I'll feel about it until I get there but at least we wont be singing hymns or reading passages from a book I'll probably feel better once I get talking to you guys cus itll take my mind off things.
Thanks for being so understanding Adam!

Not really but now that you mention it...

This place is in Chesterfield. It's right next to the donut car park opposite the parking complex so I'd like to think it's more convenient for everyone since it's sort of more central to everyone's travels.

I can assure you there will be none of that...it will be just like it is now...film with a bit philosophical discussion at the end of it

No worries

Oh I know where you mean, although I don't recall a church being there but then I don't usually pay very much attention. Bus rides are my chillout time
Well that sounds great to me :3

Thankyou so much for the inspiration!
Got anymore ideas?

Umm, I'm not sure, but basing it on my commission information probably about £100 I'm doing some smaller work that will sell for alot less but because of the sizes of my canvases, the amount of paint I'm using and whatnot I'm worried that most of my prices will be too high and there'll be nothing I can do about it :/
Oh well! Ebay or online auction if they don't sell at ALCON

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ehryn In reply to Nixity [2010-08-10 15:32:32 +0000 UTC]

You can always drop prices on the Sunday if it looks like you're going home with too much - there's always a lot of people buying ANYTHING that's reduced because they still have money to burn Canvases like that usually go for around that anyway ^^

Hmmm as for more ideas.............. How about a unicorn just barely outlined (or glowing ethereally) in a shaft of sunlight surrounded by deep forest?

Orrrrr..... a chimera roaring from a sun-blasted rock?

A gryphon locked in battle with a young dragon?

Hmmm...... I don't knowwww T______T

Cool ideas! I like the unicorn one esspecially
