Description
Marcus Nikolai Lyre
"An observant shopkeep who isn't paid to listen to your stories--just get in, get out. Is that so damn hard?"
Agender | He/they | 27 | Bisexual

Practically the quietest person in town, but he can really make a fuss when he wants to. Marcus isn't the biggest fan of the other shopkeeps, nor a whole lot of people, really, and primarily sticks to his little brother to make sure he's alright, plus only occasionally visiting Diego's place to see what he's up to. They're a hard worker but will do whatever they can to rebel or make a statement, and holds themselves to an astonishingly high standard. They're not a snob, not anything of the sort, but they can certainly get brash if you catch them in a bad mood. A majority of the time, he just puts his head down and gets on with things, but causing a bit of trouble never hurt anybody. Typically.

Main relationships:
- Ivan (or "Ivy" from Marcus): Marcus' little brother, who he's practically raised since the kid was born. The two lived on the streets for a good chunk of their childhood, with Marcus working his ass off to keep them alive, until they could eventually rent out a decent two-bedroom apartment for them both. Marcus protects Ivan with his life, and sometimes has to be reminded that Ivan isn't a little kid anymore.
- Diego : Marcus' plaything. They pick him up and puts him down when they so like, and hell if they feel bad about it. Dragging around and toying with some priss' heart is just what they need for some excitement around here.
- Teresa : A good friend that Marcus met through Bruno; they often meet up at Café Petrov to catch up and gossip if they don't see each other during the week.
- Bruno : An old occasional hook-up before either of them got into their respective relationships. They still remain best friends, and frequently hang out outside of work.
- Edmond: Someone who Marcus doesn't take too kindly to, and is almost annoyingly easy to intimidate when trying to sneak Diego off for breaks.
- Aitra: A scarily frequent customer of Marcus' shop. He's sometimes a bit concerned with how often they're coming in with a dirty dog to wash, whether it's their own or ones they're competing with, but he can't complain when it comes to extra money in his pocket.
- Thomas : Ivan's friend, and Diego's little brother.. he doesn't get involved with him.
- Alyssa: Ivan's other friend. They don't get involved with her, either, but is quick to usher her out from their shop whenever she tries to help with work whilst looking for Ivan.
Extra info:
- He's dyspraxic.
- He's the owner of Bride and Groom: an independent dog grooming centre in Chow, and his only other co-worker is his little brother, Ivan. It doesn't get too busy too often, thankfully. People bring their pups in for professional and longer-lasting cleaning, which is ideal for competitions. The price for a single dog is a hefty one, but worth it when the results are so high-quality. He knows his work's worth. Marcus' job is to wash and clean the pets that come in as he can deal with the wet fur texture far better than his brother, but Ivan often helps with keeping the dogs calm if ever they freak out.
- Don't touch their hair.
- If they're in a good mood, they like to stick things in their ear plug holes to amuse people, particularly Ivan. It grosses Diego out especially, so he makes an effort to do it more around him to get a reaction.
- He has a very strong grip, good for handling anxious big dogs while they're being groomed.
- Despite their occasional temper, they're an unspoken softie. They can be very soft-spoken and gentle when they want to be, especially if someone's anxious or panicking, as they know what it's like to be in that situation. It's rare they have to be like that, though, but they subconsciously engage part of that side of them when talking with Ivan.
