He gave me a pretty nice description of her personality, and I kinda just worked from there.
I admit the drawing itself isn't very original but I'm still pretty happy with it!

WOW! You really outdid yourself, Tanner! I love it! Rune looks so cute with her hat and staff! The little gleam of the belt and hat buckle are excellent small details that go well with the feeling of light and magic you have captured here.
The double outline around Rune and the background really makes her pop right off the screen and goes great with the green of her outfit and blue of her hair. Your decision to use a gradient ending in blue up top and trending toward green on the bottom as part of the background works amazingly well, especially in conjunction with the white rays that end just at the border of the picture. It works out so well that I can easily imagine this as the design for the back of a set of playing cards.
Also, your timing is remarkable. No sooner had I finished my Adventures in World Building journal for this week and slammed my head on the keyboard in an exhausted celebratory fashion that I saw this in my inbox. I'll definitely be featuring this in my next world building journal!

She looked like a magical kind of character so I was hoping it suited her well!
Yeah actually the background was quite a last minute thing but I am really happy with how it turned out! This type of thing isn't usually something I'd do or even consider but.. I did. And I must say it looks pretty darn good xD

For a last minute background, it really turned out spectacular! Maybe you should try this type of background again sometime if it isn't too time consuming. It really has a lot of potential to make characters stand out and also pleasantly frame the character as well. I'm not good at visualizing in my head but I'd imagine if you changed the background colors to go with the color scheme of the character portrayed, much like how Rune and the background colors work together, then that character would stand out as well. This would probably appy just as much to darker backgrounds of the same design as to lighter ones like Rune's.

It actually was really easy to do!
I was just going to make it all green but it was a little bright for my taste.
To be honest the whole thing is a little brighter than anything I'd ever create xD
But it was fun!
