Having taken in an adult thrown away cat and a kitten abandoned to die of thirst and starvation in a very low grade motel (she almost did and required IVs to pull through); the freely given trust has to be earned. And when you have earned it, you have been given a very precious gift.

one of our cats had 3 kittens when I was a teenager
you had to mind every move and tiny kittens have very pointy teeth and claws
