I absolutely love squirrels! They are so adorable, so curious and just so dang cute! Do you have black ones where you live? There are a few here in my small town and it is very strange to see them.

I live in Nebraska in a small town about 20 miles from South Dakota, and I have only seen a couple here in the 12 years I have lived here.

We see the black and gray ones more during the winter months here in Eastern Ontario. The red ones we see most of the year. In summer it's more difficult to see any squirrel, because of all the foliage. This little guy I captured during my daily walk in our little woods

I have always wished I could have one as a pet, which, I know is not a good thing. I was raised on a farm and we always were finding little wild animals and having them as pets. I even had a little pet skunk for a while but eventually it got turned loose. We let it go once it was old enough to take care of itself, for obvious reasons. I have always thought squirrels and chipmunks are so adorable!
Being the age I am now, I also know that wild creatures shouldn't be taken out of their natural habitat. As a species we have been doing that for centuries and killing off entire species of animals. Such a shame.
