ON MY TUMBLR: sammaloo.tumblr.com/post/55947...Third piece done for the gallery my friends and I are putting together. For the gallery we are doing our own version of 'Fantasia' where we blindly listen to music (aka we've never heard it/don't know the title/don't know the artist) and then illustrate what it makes us think of and/or feel. I don't have a link to the song this one is based on (since, again, I don't even know the title of the song for the sake of the project), but I will add it when it is revealed to me.
This one was a doozy. And I didn’t make it any easier on myself - I did this image all in one sitting (11 hours STRAIGHT), stopping only for dinner. I am in a lot of pain right now and desperately need to stretch. Unlike my other images I’ve done for the gallery, this one is purely illustrative. There’s actually multiple files of this - originally, the waterfall covered her eye, distorting it. But I lost so many details that I spent drawing, so I moved it. I’m fond of both though, so I may still be messing with it until I'm 100% happy.
EDIT: Put another hour into it. Added more waterfalls and water ripples.

I adore Fantasia as a kid and even now as a young adult still do! That's so magical and inspiring to do your own work inspired by the songs!! I can really see how much fun and effort you placed into this. This really is illustrative, I can just imagine a story of this mermaid/koi girl.

'Fantasia 2000' was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen (I saw in at an IMAX theatre), so it definitely holds a special place in my heart

Reminds me of a goldfish. ^^ But wow, that is a lot of time to put in at once, still it turned out nice, the hair in the water is actually quite good as well.
