i thought it at first, but then i remembered that shunsui and ukitake are special for having 2 swords (shunsui for having two zapakuto, and ukitake for having one that when in shikai are two). he cant be more special that those two.

Actually, there's another person that has a zanpakuto that basically splits into two when released. It's revealed later in the manga and recently in the anime. I'm not going to tell you who it is so that I don't spoil it for you.
So, while splitting zanpakuto is rare, it's not limited to those two.
