Concept
The shield frigate is both, the smallest warship meant to operate on its own, as well as having a emphasis on shielt strategys - which are manyfold. In case of the TiraNate it is a combination of stronger shields, which you usually find in larger fleet formations, and an electromagentical plow that is directet to the front and weaken the inner field matrix that held together the plasma bots of particle emitter weapons, what lowers the on point effect of such weapons.
TiraNate is further commnuicated as a patrol frigate, which seems to be a designation to explain huge quantitys of this class to be produced, but more likely the steamlined design, with focus on multi-conflict durability and cost efficency (what isen't in the interest of a company that has secured customers with a constant need), points at a increase of the conglomerates own interest in military capacity. Peace is regularily providen by the Federated Systems Fleet, where all members invest money and material to ensure defense. Alon seem to either put a bit of distrust in this relation or is willing to field a very costly intimidation strategy to ensure some economic benefits. No matter the point, it isen't considered a military threat to teh systems, but a major one in the realm of high level networked economy.
No matter the reason, the TiraNate class is an uncommon design among FS military crafts. The inner hull is decoupled from the outer armor, and so the hull is not just more armored than most patroling craft setups, but also made relativly easy to exchange due to its modular design. So the TiraNate is tailored for more long lasting conflicts - which is a extreme daviation from the more economical fleet setups that could be easily replaced or repaired no matter how long it'll take, as there is no shortage on financial capacity, but on real enemys that could hope to overwhelm the mass of the fleets. As on some recent designs, Alon heavily invested in shield coverage, what further increase costs and grant more ability to operate outside of a bigger fleet formations - what theoretically could again streanghen the arguemnt that it is meant for patroling.
The armament also is a bit unusual. With a good number of particle lances it starts very basic, as those are good against all types of targets and have a decent projectile speed/accuracy. A bit more uncommon are some rad-lances, projecting heavy radiation to stress shields and pirce armor. Those weapons aren't unknown but unusual for a society that has no need to capture pirate vessels by pircing the armor and leave the hull intact while critical systems and crew are fried. Even more rare are the missile launcer, which are considered way too costly and inneficcent on the distances regular capital ship combat is peformed. Four armored landing pods are fittet into the hull and make a lot of instances quite nervous, as this seem somewhat perfect for a pirate fleet ship, but not a corporation defense forece, and even unlikely for a customer. Beside some radial anti-boarding weapons attatched to the hull, the ship have two setups of microdrones to operate at low or no manouvering and fullfill a bit of anit-boarding unit tasks, low level maintanance, as well as sticky mines, harming an enemy ships ability to use ther gravitational systems to stabilise the ship in an attempt to escape from the TiraNate.
Overall the ship is designed relativly simple, but with a lot of unusual equipment, and leaves a lot of question unsolved.
The ships lenght is 284m (+12m with antennas), the width is 53,7m and the hight is 73,5m (+8,2m with antennas).
Crew
A number of 1044 is relativly small in the casual crew heavy doctrines common in the Federated Systems. Another unusual number of around 220 of these goes to marines with the job to both secure the ship from bording parties as well as keep the crew propperly in the chain of command.
Around 600 are simply trained crewman for damage control, while the rest is specialised to the more complex and command task.
Minimum crew is about 25. The ships include one citadel which can be defended more easily and grand a small isle of safety to secure the commando structure, while the rest of the ship might be a battlefield. Indeed the citadel do not offer any protection after some vital elements have been destroyed, but this ensure that a ship most likely can't be stolen or captured within a conflict unless some members of the command crew are corrupted.
There are 18 escape pods, but very limited in capacity, as only the better trained personal, specialist and mostly marines are considered left if damage control has failed, and therefor consumed most of the more simple crewmen. Space sealed suits are only standard for the marines, but have limited ressources and was meant for short term operations/survival on the ship.
In case of abandonment there are also the four more heavy pods that serve different purposes, but could be packed with as much personal as possible to cramp in.
Weaponary
Medium range weapons are 14 rad-lances which are mainly to stress shields and harm internals with a very low ability to forcefully destroy a targets superstructure. Mostly considred a weapon you only find on some more sophisticated pirate ships, preparing to capture the hull of its prey. There is no superfiring position for any of the weapon systems, so the design might be set up for dealing with multiple fast targets - as pirates love to deploy them - similar to larger enemys in low speed broadside combat which doesn't require much training for the ships leadership.
More casual are the 32 turrets with particle lances, perfectly balanced to stress shields, armor and internal systems alike, while granting good speed and accuracy.
22 frontal launcher tubes for 1280mm missiles held an unknown kind of warheads, but considering the overall design decisions, they could be armed with mass generators, impacting on an enemy ship and distort ther integrity fields so much that it is effectivly hindered to manouver a lot without breaking apart by its self created centrifugal forces. So this would further point to a weapon setup to capture an enemy rather than destroying it. But they could also just be an additional hammer for softening a target before getting into close combat, where damage is equaly dealt.
A shield friggates wave distortion plow must also be considered a weapon, as it is a active system. This roughly 25° angle plow point in front direction and is located in the outriggers. It destabilise enemy particle lance fire and spread ther kinetic/thermal energy to a wider area, minimising ther effect. To a degree this also might effect targeting.
The drone setup of 2x4x13 compact 810 x 400mm units further increase closest range operations and further hinder an enemy from boarding or resist a boarding action. That every landing pod is armed with 3 of those drones, in addition to magnetic grappling hooks, further harden the idea of boarding and capturing ressources/information is a major consideration for this ship class.
Armor & Design
The body is build quite simple and casual, but protected by an outer hull. This unusual investment in ressource heavy armorment covers the middle section, as well as smaller sections on front and rear section which are more easy to replace. The middle armor element is connected to the outriggers, what reduces the overall structural integrity, but also makes this 'spaced armor' compartments similar easy to replace - if one ignores the cost of the equipment placed there.
Armor consists of casual monoblock integrity enhanced material.
In exchange of a single and powerfull reactor, the ship rely on 16 external micro reactors which are easy to replace and channeld off the ship in case of critical malfunction. This make them vulnerable to enemy fire, but reduce the whight of a loss as well as the cahnces to have a source of critical failure stored deep in the internals of the ship. Another tradeoff that features large scale assembly line production and repairs.
The hight naval ship like shape is a more traditional shape out of the early ship building expertise by Alon that where based on huge docks and stations in the atmosphere of gas giants. Still the ships could stand entering an atmosphere by both structural forces and thermal stress (due to the use of its shields), it clearly isen't made for such operations and would suffer in mobility and overall effectivness. Stripped of its shields, it would be nearly impossible to operate on relevant acceleration or manouvering in atmospheric flights. So the only real advantage of a classic design philosophy is a good pressure resitatance while operations in denser atmospheres like gas giants or probably oceans.
As a hardent design, it has only two entrances in crew size on top, two more on teh bottom, one hatch per landing pod and one larger door in the front for main exchange of good on a station, This front section has almost redundand internals and might easily be damaged, but dispers the enemy fire with irrelevant structures so it might not carve deep into the ship and reach critical systems. Also here is the only visual bridge, used as a traditional thing to watch the surrounding with mortal eyes, but without any means but probably a docking/loading platform to deliver a more intuitive feeling for things going on.
To simplyfy artifical gravitation isolation, the ship has almost mirrored internals from the mid section up and downward, so two different horizons, with the command citadel have ther own and independand horizon.
Engines
The engines are very simple artifical matter collapse propulsion in combination with manipulated gravimetrical forces to manouver and delay. 2x10 engines are placed in pairs of 5 on top of one outrigger, another five down below. As exposed to enemy fire they are, the replacable and minimised in danger to the ship they're as well.
With all engines destroyed, a TiraNate is only able to manouver by the relativly weak forces of ther mass artifically directed in one direction - by manouver engines so to say.
Coat of Arms
As common to many new build ships, the orange Stripes of the conglomerates own military forces are applied to the ship till it find ther paying owner and the coat of arms and hull color is replaced. This also mean that every ship not delivered yet is basically part of the conglomerates own military, which makes it nearly impossible to estimate the militarys size more than in a very rough estimation.
The light beige is the basic painting of the disposition forces. In dedicated log term service of own forces it might receive additional markings or camouflage, depending on unit fielded. In regular the traditional gas giant reddish camouflages are the elite forces, refering to the planet bound defense force that fought through the civil war that followed after the great war and the occupations.
