Oh god the season 1 finale was probably one of the most emotionally charged, powerful episodes in children's cartoons ._. <3 I love how twisted Malachite/Jasper and Lapis' relationship is, and I really want to see more of their Malachite fusion because holy shit she's formidable.PSCS5

Same. And is it true that Malachite only looked the way she did (only arms and no feet) because Lapis & Jasper's fusion was like, unstable and it wasn't for the right reasons? Because if you look at Opal she looked yknow HUMAN or more normal I'd say lol. She has legs and only 2 eyes, not four. And Malachite is like 3 times her size. Is this indicative of their stable-ness or something? idk how to say it LOL. But yea, does anyone know? I wanna see Malachite more refined i guess is a better word? Iunno. Iwant Jasper and Lapis to unfuse and make up...kinda like Peridot did with the Crystal Gems. Steven can maybe help them fuse better like he did with Opal~

This must be one of the most amazing drawings of Malachite as well as Jasper and Lapis I have ever seen ;_; I can't stop staring at this. Everything about it is gorgeous and perfection. I would totally buy this as a poster or something ;w; Omg. Stunning work! Really!Β
Also, I hope we see more of their Malachite fusion as well! She's perhaps one of my favorites, despite the short amount of time we get to see her :')

I absolutely am in love with Steven Universe right now and this deviation is stunning to say the least. The contrast of reds with the green/blue hues of Malachite and the water give such a intense feeling while all the movement in the art is so dynamic. Amazing job, I really hope Steven Universe inspires you to draw more gems!

If Lapis has the strength to control all the waters of the world, why didn't she just put Jasper on the bottom on the ocean by herself, without fusion?

It's easier that way...with Lapis leeching off of Jasper's power now, she's stronger and able to hold Malachite down for longer.

But...proportionally speaking, the amount of power Lapis would need to keep Jasper down would be significantly smaller than the amount Malachite needs to hold herself down.
If she can drag all the waters on the earth to one spot on a whim, holding a single person down wouldn't be much.

1.) Jasper literally smashed through half of Peridot's ship using just her head. do not doubt the Jasper.
2.) it'd probably a lot easier to catch someone if you're half of them just sayin'. that way it reduces the chance that the crystal gems would get caught in any crossfire that might ensue from a one-on-one battle
3.) did Lapis really even have a CHOICE to fuse; Jasper is obviously a lot physically stronger than her and probably could have snapped her like a toothpick had she said no
4.) as seen with Sugilite, fusion takes a toll on all members involved β this way, she can use Jasper's energy. even if Lapis has the energy it takes to hold Malachite down on her own, any way to weaken your enemy is still a good one.
5.) what would happen if Lapis went offworld or even just further away? how far does her wifi stretch
6.) ^^^ probably not that far; in Ocean Gem when Lapis flew away, the water tower collapsed not long after
7.) waterbending obviously takes a lot of focus. again, if she wasn't up close and personal, there's more of a chance that she could lose that link
8.) she might still have negative feelings towards the Crystal Gems; whenever you see her flying away β she's never flying towards them. even when they want to help her, she tells them to back off.
9.) can't think of many more right now but yeah have the discourse

maybe because she wanted to get jasper into a relaxed state. she wanted to create a false trust so jasper had no chance of breaking free. also either way she'd have to sit there and keep her down constantly anyways, so fusion was probably the safest option
