I am curious; WHY is DC now finally marrying off Batman and Catwoman? Is it some kind of publicity stunt? An attempt at giving people a little predictability or order in their lives? Or is it none of the above? Also, why did they pair Superman and Wonder Woman?
Again, understand that this is for my own education and not an indictment of you or DC.Β

As you can tell by now, it didn't pan out. I don't want to be one of those people that complain about little things but Tom King has said he has a 100-issue plan for Batman. As for Superman and Wonder Woman, the relationship was enjoyable, in my opinion, but didn't have the longevity or emotional pathos as Superman and Lois Lane. The truth is that Clark and Diana didn't evolve in any meaningful way and their relationship only got primary focus on their mutual book, while in their individual books, Superman and Wonder Woman were off doing their own things.

Huh. Well, that answers a few of my questions, but it didn't answer the big ones like "was this wedding a publicity stunt on the part of DC, or was this more or less authorial intent, as it seems many in Gen X (who, I should add, are currently writing our comic books amongst other things) shipped BatmanXCatwoman and SupermanXWonder Woman? Or again, was it none of the above?"

In my opinion, I think Superman/Wonder Woman and Batman/Catwoman, at least the wedding phase, were publicity stunts. Superman/Wonder WomanΒ was advertisedΒ in the Internet as an effort to push the New 52, and Batman #50, the issue that would supposedly feature Batman and Catwoman's wedding, got a huge marketing campaign. Whatever the case, those relationships ended and DC now has to think carefully about what they want to do next with their characters.

Batman and Batgirl; both Humans. Superman; the alien/pretty much a God, and Wonder-Woman; a literal amazon Goddess.
As much as I get the appeal to underdog stories, (in this case making us root for the Villains), but some subtlety, and maybe a slight chance of a fair fight, would be nice
