This is a lovely shot. The smile is very original and I like how much detail you got, especially in the mouth, around and in the eyes, all the awesome wrinkles. I also like that its slightly slanted, not sure if its the way your camera was or if its the way the turtle positioned its self e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
The only really negative thing I have to say about it is that I dont really like the red brick thing in the bottom left corner but I know you cant just walk up to a SNAPPING turtle and move a rock lol
All together it is a beautiful shot unlike any other turtle Ive seen

Thank you so much for your feedback! Yes, I'm not too fond of the brick in the corner either, but like you said, it would be quite difficult to move it with a snapping turtle right there
She's huge by the way, although you can't tell in the photo. She laid her eggs and has recently gone back to the lake.

hehe not a problem. Its so cool to see someone with interest in what they shoot hehe.
Do they ever come out apart from when they lay eggs?

Oh, totally
We have an abundance on wildlife here, it makes for such great photo opportunities.

And nope! They only come out to mate in the spring and lay eggs. So I guess we were pretty lucky to see one.

Yes, we'll have a swarm of baby turtles in November
I'll be sure to post pics when the time comes. I heard they have very soft shells at first so not many of them survive their first day.

that's kind of sad though, but best of luck for those who manage to make it.

Turtles in general are miracles x)

Ours of course was not a sea turtle, but it's same nonetheless.
