i use Bristol board paper smooth surface but the problem there is... yes very good detail you can do but unfortunately if you want it really dark the tooth of the paper is not going to hold well so you may need to add very many layers to get it dark. i just find it so much easier to erase, therefore i can add many more details...hope that helps!?
