I absolutely love this image: (1) because it's an adorable owl, what's not to love, (2) he's a pirate, again what's not to love, and (3) you demonstrated a LOT of talent with this piece.
I think you nailed the soft texture for this little owlet. The subtle color shading and lightly drawn in feathers captured the downy feeling I imagine young owls to have. The splitting on a few of the features is a nice touch.
Overall, the picture seems simple, but it speaks wonders for your skill and imagination. The only factor I didn't give 5 stars to was vision, and that was only because the only design addition that screamed pirate was the eyepatch. I think if you really wanted to make the owl pirate-themed, you could have added more. I'm glad you didn't though, I love this owl just the way you made him.

Well actually this was a commission, so she did it following commissioners request details.. commissioner asked for a regular owl with an eyepatch, it wasn't intended as a complex char design
