Description Redoing movie posters in my style.

Custom one-sheet film poster for Steven Spielberg's classic suspense JAWS.

Since the sudden influx of my JAWS poster, I decided to get back into a few more "modern" posters to classic films and personal favorites of mine. When thinking of movies to do, I realized I couldn't pass up THE GODFATHER and immediately this was the first idea that popped into my head. I have a few others rattling around inside, but wanted to get this one out first.

It's not a very overly complicated poster, but that's my style. It seems like I've slipped into a place where my posters are grungy (of course, I love that) and to the point. I'm not a fan of the "floating heads" or montage photos layouts of the actors. Thus, this poster IS my style.

Stock of the body is *mjranum-stock, source here:

This was done for fun and as a test of my skills. It'll be put up on my website in hopes of enticing people in the poster design community to contact me.

MARIO PUZZO'S THE GODFATHER and THE GODFATHER Logo are (c)Paramount Pictures.

I love it. The only thing I'd suggest is lightening the shadows slightly between the arm and the guy's back or some other way to make the two distinctive. At the moment, it kinda looks like the guy's arm is just random extruding from his jacket

Thanks for the critique! This poster is one of those that I had better intentions for in my head but just couldn't find a good way to execute it. Having had enough of a break from it, I might go back and see if I can "fix" it and I'll definitely keep in mind your suggestion.

Thanks again!

I know what you mean; it looks great, but something just looks unfinished, you know? Really, just a little fine tuning on the lighting is all I can think of that it needs. Looking at it again, I think an alternative would be to have more contrast between the jacket and the background. The white fade just seems kind of messy.

One of the main points of the Godfather is how clean and smooth they run their business. The old film affect is perfect, but beneath it, things just need to stick out more.

I don't mean to be ripping it apart like I am; I know you did this a while ago and I know your recent stuff is a lot better, but this one just caught my eye, you know?
