Its sharp round the eyes which is where it matters. The blur just shows the movement.

WOW! Is this a cool shot or what! You really got some outstanding shots at the Hawk Conservancy. To get this shot with him looking directly at you is one in a million! Outstanding job! And I like the feather flying off him as well!

if it wasn't for mike saying around 4 seconds before hand - hes going to rouse, i wouldnt of got this.
i didnt even know what he meant when he said it but i suddenly saw it ruffle and hit the shutter lol. got 2 shots before it was over, and that was at 8fps which shows how quick they are at pretty much anything lol

Wish I was there! We have an Aniaml Ark here just north of Reno but They only have a few birds which they fly, and teh lighting can get harsh real quick out here in the desert.

I like the focus. How it's wicked eyes and it'a beak are in focus, but now much else is.

no - i was laying around 2 meters away from this on the ground. None of these birds were shot in cages mate

And, I don't know about you. But i'd clone out that bit of dirt or whatever as it is a little detracting from the views attention. or you could argue it's adding to the sense of movement? (bird kicking up the dirt. wings blurred from movement and not fast enought ex)

sorry what dirt? I wanted some motion blur in the shot of the wings because these things rousing lasts for around 2 seconds tops. Their very quic.
