I'm really interested to work with fiberglass, you make magnificent props with it!

Wow, I find your work so inspiring.
I'm already planning to build Sailor Moon's sword of Sealing some time.
But I've done it now only in 3D. Your guide makes me courage to try it finally.
Thank you very much ^^

What is that gray coating you used?

Dear God! Amazing work! Words can not describe how happy I was when I found your sword, and your WIP photos! I'm actually just about to do (or at least, try to) this very some sword!
Could you just answer a few questions of mine?
- What did you use to make the gems "former"? (sorry, english is not my native language) I mean... what is that grey stuff that you sank the plexiglas prototype in? Some sort of silicone?
- How did you "paint" the gems? Did you mixed some pigment with the resin? (Poliester resin maybe?, or is the same Epoxi?) Did you put something on the background of your gems, to make them more shiny? Like the background of jewelery pieces?
- What thickness of Polyurethan board did you use? And how did you glued them together? What type of glue did you use?
Again, congratulations for this! It's a really beautiful prop.

Am I seeing this correctly? A black nylon for the bottom of the hilt? Clever!!

Yes XD
But it was used only for the form-giving. I covered it with resin + glasfiberpowder.

I'm sure there are all kinds of steps, work, and layers we can't all see in the photo montage. Really nice work!

Thank you very much. Yeah.. at some steps I didn't make photos, sometimes I forgot my camera and so on. But I hope you can follow and understand the single working-parts I made ^_^

I'm actually doing Uranus' sword from the manga version (the long clear blade), but I've never made a prop like this before - so, not the same pattern as Galaxia (and my blade is of plexiglass - thanks to this tutorial I saw you can actually sand down plexiglas, thank God! That's been helpful yesterday!). But definitely getting ideas on making a prop. It won't be of your calibre, but it'll be better because of this tutorial, even if just a bit!

*blush* Wow, I have to say, I never thought my WIP pics or tutos could help people making props (better)
Thank you so much ^^
Sometime I would like to make Uranus' sword(s), too. Hope you will finish your sword soon. I'm curious to see it <3

:S I am lacking some sawing tools, for the foam/wood hilt, so I'll have to wait a few months to visit a friend in another city to get that going! But I've been documenting it, so I'll definitely post up the process in the SM Cosplay Props group (where I found your sword). And again, I've already said it before, but Empresses of the Sea & Sky - phenomenal. You ladies are awesome.

That is amazing! You're really good with props! What's that glassy stuff you used to mold the red gems out of? I'm always having trouble making shiny irregular shaped gems because I always have to cast the molds from clay bases.

Thank you very much.
The prototype gems are of plexiglas/acrylic glass.
I cut them out and sanded them in the gem form. Plexiglas is wonderful for such things because is very hard, compact and smooth (after sanding) and you will get it in different thickness. Here I use 5mm...
