It depends whether or not you "projected" a 2D texture onto the cube, which is quite easy. But, if you were extruding a cube into the shape and grooves like the console, then I am not surprised that that is quite fiddly.

No, it's all 3d modeled, as in reality. Only the logos (like the gamecube on top, the ATI on the front) and the fan and the grid on the sides are textures. The texts (like slot1, the dots on the front, the open, reset and power) are textures placed as bump.

Interesting. I haven't done that much when it comes to texturing yet, so I will be interested in any hints, guides, or advice you can offer when it comes for me to do it; I will probably be doing more advanced modelling stuff during the year.
