Description
The arc didn't end well for Scio, I think that can be safely said. Espen, her mentor, and very close friend was killed in battle, at least free of control that held them before.
Then, for reasons that are kind of long-winded to explain she was put in front of a choice to either kill her mothers then and there, cooperate with the big bad's plan, or to do neither and be forced to watch her mothers grow to resent her and make it possible for the plan to be enacted anyway. Encouraged by Embla, Nal still unconscious Scio chose the first option.
To be honest, I question the choice still but I don't think very well under stress and damn that entire session was stressful :'D And it turned out so sad, Scio's now entirely untethered from her past apart from her familiar, Puca, and blames herself horribly for everybody's deaths, especialy her mother's for obvious reasons despite being forced into that choice. Not only that, a lot of her past was a lie and there's so much she never knew and still doesn't know.
Basically Scio had a not-so-tragic backstory and got to live it in the campaign instead. She's now also very determined to assist her party members in every way she can to avoid experiencing something similar, she was before too, obviously, but now there's not really anybody else for her to worry about.
We're now headed into the next party member's arc and it's only downhill from here if our DM can be believed. As fun as this arcΒ was, I am very much looking forward to not being in the center of the attention and tragedy, please and thank you :'D
