Description
A part of my Iron Warrior army.The leader is the plastic Chaos Lord model with metal Techmarine servo arms and a converted base. The horns were chopped from his helmet as the Iron Warriors tend to remove all traces of corruption.
The Dreadnought is heavily converted with new leg armour from a tank trap, feet from a Space Crusade Dreadnought, custom base and smoke coming from its power plant.
The Baneblade is fully converted to Chaos with wire mesh, covered Imperial Eagles and a few icons. The spotlight is a working led lamp with battery inside the body of the tank.
Obliterator has greenstuffed stretch marks, they are the only corrupted marines the Iron Warriors will tolerate amongst them as they have incredible firepower.

These particular ones are a mix of acrylics and watercolours for the rust effects (it builds up nicely in the recesses)

Quite a nice collection. I quite like the way the baneblade light is painted; it actually looks like it's glowing.
On another note I always wondered what Chaos God the Iron Warriors would follow. I know you have guys like the Word Bearers who simply follow all of them but they are generally fanatical. Β There just doesn't seem to be a Chaos God that fits the bill of craftsmanship. I imagine them to be undivided but I still wonder what could any of the God's offer that would interest them. I know it's probably best for me not to think too deeply into it as 40k can be very confusing at times but it still sparks my interest.

Firstly the light is glowing because it is a working red LED light!
Secondly as I understand it the IW's hate all mutation and are reviled at the idea of being consumed by Chaos, that's why they chop off their limbs and replace them with bionics! So I would imagine them not to be Chaos Gods worshippers as such, just sort of "lumped in with that lot because they are afflicted by Chaos" if that kinda makes sense?

Ah fair enough. Ha it's just that I have seen insane paint jobs in the past where things legitimately looked like they are glowing. Still a great idea to use a wee LED.

The smoke effect for the Dreadnought is insipred. I don't think I've seen it before.
Also the Baneblade lamp.
These little details take extra work, but really punch up the finished models. Β Bravo!
