This was just a sketch, but then I colored and posted it on Twitter. Now I'm posting it here without the compression. Yay!I haven't drawn Mario in ages. I haven't drawn Mario and Toadette together in ages. Sometimes they just hang out and be pals in between Princess kidnappings.Β

Definitely one of those inside friend gags that if anyone else saw it wouldn't be funny, but to them they're having the time of their lives being goofs.
I wonder what Peach has been up to anyway.. probably kidnapped again.Β Poor gal, between her personal safety and her concern for her hero, she can't seem to catch a break. I'm sure the two females will butt heads again in the future.Β

It is definitely part of their head canonically. I liked the approach that Toads have hairstyles under their mush heads in Paper Mario and just drew them with hats/hair accessories.Β
