Description The dusty ground was so close to her face that Rinya was unable to focus on it properly.  From this perspective the dirt was nothing more than blurry brownish blotches of color.  She had never really spent much time thinking about the ground. It was constantly present below her feet, quietly supporting every agile step her powerful legs took.  Being bound so tightly she now had all the time she could ever want to observe her surroundings.  Unfortunately however, there was only dirt to study.  Straining against the ropes holding her in place she pulled her slender neck back just far enough to focus her sparkling deep emerald eyes on the floor around her before bringing her head back to rest on the warm but uncomfortable ground.  A bit of sand had become stuck on her nose irrating her.  She had never wanted to scratch her nose so badly, but the layers of strong rope held fast her powerful tan arms against her lean body.  Her captors might have meant only to restrain her, but now she was being tortured as well!

She had to think of something, anything else besides the growing itching sensation that was now burning her nose.  Suddenly Rinya let out a huge sneeze.  A cloud of dust erupted in front of her, the tiny sand particles shimmered about in the still air as if dancing to some unheard melody, each speck dressed in the golden light of a fading sun.  Her gaze followed the beautiful dance as it quietly settled back to the floor.  Slowly each grain of sand came into focus.  Rinya was suddenly struck by a thought.  Each tiny bit of sand had probably once been part of the same giant piece of bedrock, like the ones burried deep below the ground where she was currently laying.  That huge rock, after eons of battling against tectonic forces so immense it was hard to imagine, was suddenly thrust against its will out onto the harsh surface of the planet.  Countless torrents of acidic rain must have poured down over the years beginning the painfully slow process of erosion.  One tiny speck after another had been worn away, until finally all that would remain of the once mammoth solid rock, were the soft bits of sand all around Rinya.  What an incredible process, Rinya marveled to herself.

She couldn't help but think her current situation mirrored that of the rock, or rather, the grains of sand scattered about her.  Rinya had been born of an ancient race known as the Myin.  The Myin culture had flourished for countless generations, sheltered within the great Thurvin forest, a place so wild not even the most seasoned of adventurers had dared to explore its depths.  But everything changed suddenly, it had began with odd colored lights on the horizon, the strange toxic smells that had begun to drifting into the Myin settlements.  Scouts were sent to explore these disturbing changes, but each time none returned.  They were to find out the source of the changes all too soon however. Even though she was but a child, Rinya remembered that historic day.  The day when her ancient culture, that had seemed as solid as that once giant piece of bedrock, had been thrust out of the forest and into the modern world, and her people scattered like so many grains of sand.
