Very happy to know that a highly desired character for me made it into SSB4!Here's a sprite for her + a progress .gif to show how I made it.
Hope you guys are as pleased with her inclusion as I am.

Princess Rosalina, she first showed up in the Mario Galaxy series. She's sorta like a space goddess & helps mario throughout the galaxy games. (mostly galaxy 1 I think)

Because, I was on my 3DS or something and I have had absolutely no clue who she was and she was in Mario Kart 8 and SSMB 4!

It's always neat to see the progress for your pixels man. Good to see I'm not the only one who starts with the face, though you free hand the body? That's something I need to get into the habit of doing more often. Always scared I'll get proportions wrong doing that.

Hahah sometimes I start from the feet up. It sorta depends per sprite and character.
And yah, I couldn't freehand the body on a drawing; but on small sprites like this the proportions
are so chibi and minimized anyway that I don't make big mistakes.

True enough. I always end up having an array of shapes on hand to use to help judge how thick a characters limbs are and he like. It feels like you could get more smooth, flowing poses done freehanding it though. BUT HOORAY, TEENY PIXELS!

That's what I was thinking! I just sat there in amazement seeing her move and fight. Way beyond what I thought they would do. So much for the general comment of "She'd be a Peach clone!"

Yeah! Not my type of character, I go straightforward and balanced (Mario in melee, Pit in Brawl). Β But I still wonder how effective she will be. Β If I try to master tactical characters (Ness, Snake) I can make the best of him, usually.

I'm happy she's in Smash now, but I wish they replaced Peach with her. They have different movesets, but they look very similar. Fantastic sprite work - I liked her head when it was slightly larger though!

There's not super clear images making this as obvious as it should be, but Rosalina seems to be at least a head taller than Peach.
Aside from the blonde hair I don't think they look very similar in motion, Rosalina reminds me a lot more of Mewtwo actually.
Huge, floaty and soaring around for stuff like her run.
And I made her head a pixel smaller cause otherwise the scale felt off compared to my other SSB sprites. (I haven't really posted them)

I always thought Rosalina was fantastic. I'm pretty excited that she's in SSB4 too! Looks like a really interesting and tactical fighting style too. Definitely another reason to get a Wii U!
