Nasu himself is doing the anime script, and since he did not do the original game, there will be changes. The character designs are a little different, but with Shaft doing the production it will be interesting to watch.Β

What really got me was Shinji's girlfriend. A pink-haired girl. chibi-mode Drake? maybe Tamamo seeking her husband?

I would definitely play a JRPG if Nasu wrote it. The story twists would make all the level grinding worth it! IIRC the reviews for Extra! supported the characters and story but lambasted the gameplay and rough graphics. Fortunately those two problems are not present in the anime, so we can sit back and enjoy Nasu's ever-changing character network in action.
I myself am especially suspicious of Shinji The Jerk having such a cute girlfriend. He is not the sort to attract people naturally or spontaneously, so something must be up.Β Β Β (Totally not biased!Β Β )Β Β

and Gameplay... yeah, it got stale after a while
to be fair this Shinji should be different from the FSN-version
and it entirely possible that the girlfriend is using Shinji for something, maybe he is her cover or convinient pawn.
