The same reason anyone would watch anything: Because they personally find value in it.
If you don't like it, that's fine. Your opinion, no one can take that away from you. But I like it, it's held up incredibly well, despite its noteworthy flaws, and that is my opinion.
Just sayin'.

I haven't seen it myself but good lord you should have seen all the over-analysis people did for the trailers/pics of the movie. Like this one scene where Naruto had his back to Hinata and people took a dying tree in the BG as "SYMBOLISM!!!!!" for NaruSaku being canon........ -shrugs- I would have rooted for the bad guy so he could bring my fave Naruto gal back but she's too OP for that series...... lol

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard. I'll be seeing it tomorrow. Hopefully this movie turns out better than the others.
I liked the first. The second was forgettable. The third had people act like they had sticks up their butts. The fourth could've been better. The fifth was better slightly than the second. And while the sixth was good, it left me with so many questions...

Neodusk In reply to Lawman09 [2015-02-28 01:24:43 +0000 UTC]
I thought the first one was okay, even though it was a lot like the very first naruto movie. The second one was also a lot like the second naruto movie, and I very much disliked it. The third one I actually liked more because most of it was action and not a bunch of exposition about forgettable minor characters I didn't care about. I thought the fourth movie was terrible, after they had advertised "NARUTO TEAMS UP WITH HIS DAD" so much, and then they spend all of twenty seconds together. The fifth movie was so-so to me--I thought it had some interesting things that could've been worked a bit more. I didn't really like the sixth movie for the fact that they kept promoting how it took place in an alternate world where everyone was different, then spent most of the film just focusing on Naruto and Sakura.

Lawman09 In reply to Neodusk [2015-02-28 01:34:53 +0000 UTC]
Yeah.
Meh.
I didn't like Sakura, Shikamaru, or even Gaara in the third.
Yeah, that was a letdown and was false advertising...
Meh.
Exactly. I would liked to have known more about these alternate counterparts. Why did Menma go dark? Was he living a double life or did only recently go rogue? And what's the alternate Hinata's normal behavior around him? Does she dress proactively to get Menma's attention? Does she seduce him or she a rare, honest tsundere?

You can argue that I'm saying this just cause I never cared for, nor really followed, the show, but when I heard about this movie, it just struck me as a cheap cop out to justify why the main character gets with someone he spent none of the actual plot with, and also milk the fan base that didn't already disown it.

Here's my thoughts on that: Kishimoto clearly wasn't good at writing romance, and most of the investment people had in the character pairings were based on very scant evidence portioned out over 700 chapters and loads of fan-based speculation and content. Kishimoto was clearly never that interested in making romance a big part of Naruto, and any actual implementation of it in the series was often met with discontent among fans. Keeping that in mind, the way it was dealt with, to me, was probably the way to go for minimum collateral damage. The final chapter gives a bit of service to the fans, like "Hey, so, here's the vindication for all those years you spent pairing these likely couples together. Enjoy". It would've been just as easy to not do anything at all.
Every Naruto film is really a way of milking the fanbase. They're non-canon, so they don't contribute anything to the story, and they often don't even really revolve around the central characters, since they tend to tell stories about the minor characters in each respective film. It's very easy to look at this film and assume it's the same as all the others. However. this movie was the first one that really tried to contribute something to the story and the characters, and I think it succeeded in that regard. It would have been very easy to just make another pail of fan-pleasing garbage, but this, in certain aspects, actually gave some well-executed and respectful, even meaningful, additions to the series. I think of it more as a service to the franchise because of that.
I think the fans who are dissatisfied with it overall feel like they deserved to get a real Hinata-Naruto romance out of the series, but I don't know that they, or rather we, deserve any such thing. Naruto was one man's creation, and anything done to service the fanbase that goes beyond what he intended for the series should be taken as just that. A service.

I stopped keeping up with the Shippuden during the Fourth Shinobi War. So in this film, or later in the series, do Naruto and/or Hinata ever talk about the moment Hinata finally confessed, and was then stabbed to death? Because I do accept that NaruHina wasn't really on Kishimoto's mind, but after that incredible scene, it felt very odd that they don't come into contact again.

Toneri is a whisp of a man, and he was flatter than a piece of paper
The story wasn't that great.
Exposition was all over the place
and the romance was predictable.

Yet I still cried like a bitch when I saw Naruto having a moment with his wife and children.

so i guess they had to put that random villain and Majora's mask plot because they thought they couldnt only focus on the romance? itd be like one of those cheesy romances with hella famous cameos and annoying pop music based around some holiday lol. Nah but i really did enjoy the love story.
