Just because I'm sick of all the concepts here on DA for an evo/mega for Rapidash that's basically just a generic pegasus/alicorn. There are more mythical horses out there than what one would see in an MLP episode (don't worry, I'm not trying to attack the show or its fans...that was apparently a problem in my last post). So anyway, I've provided some concepts for Mega Rapidash using what I know and what I was able to find out about mythical horse creatures around the world and throughout history. Not only did I come up with a design, but I made up for their hideousness with typing and abilities that I felt were fitting for what they're based on. In retrospect, I would probably switch a few things around, such as what stat boosts they get, and I kinda feel like the Phooka one would have been better as a Ghost than Dark type. But all in all, this was fun. And for those of you who actually sat through all this, I have provided what I would like to see if Megadash WERE to get wings. I am probably contradicting myself by doing this, but I'd honestly like to know how many people know what a Ceffyl-Dwr is...Related content

I think the first and last ones are my favorite. I do like the flames as wings instead of actual wings, but I love how you found other mythical horses to base designs off of. Awesome work!

I Like the 4th one. I agree with you. At first glance I got intimidated by it and I also thought Ghost typing would be more fitting of it. But if the Phooka you referenced (Also called Pooka) is the shape-shifting one, than Dark type could fit it too. I know this would almost ruin the whole Mega-Evo battle concept but it would be cool if the Phooka Dash could have illusion or imposter as it's ability since it's a shape-shifter. The only problem is that it would have to mega evolve first then be switched out and back in again XD. With the right strategy, it could work lol. Design wise, it's the most drastic astetic change from Rapidash out of the concepts presented.

Phooka is the shape-shifter, and I tried to come up with a unique ability, but I couldn't think of anything practical. I toyed around with it having something similar to Stance Change where it would shape-shift whenever it used a physical, special, or status move (and possibly its stats changing accordingly), but people who don't know the lore would probably be REALLY confused as to why Mega Rapidash turned into a goat or rabbit. And like you said, Illusion would be awkward on it.
It is the most drastic change, and in retrospect, I kinda wish I placed more variety within my designs. Obviously there are megas that barely change from their regular forms, but the Phooka one just feels like the odd one out in that it's the ONLY one that changes drastically. But it stands out to people, I guess.

Please forgive my wording, all the concepts are amazing!! My mind just went to the Phooka concept because I'd really love to see that in a pokemon game. It's the most drastic concept I've seen, with a great reference, and that's what excites me. I mean can you image a Fire/Ghost or Fire/Dark pokemon with Intimidate, Illusion, or Imposter that looks like Phooka's imagery? A black goblin horse blazed in fire... That would be amazing!!! I never thought about it until I came across your art. Rapidash, being a fire horse, would be the perfect pokemon to attach this to as a mega but I wish it was it's own pokemon now lol
So yeah, it's the most drastic I've seen so far, with an interesting concept. Not the most drastic out of this bunch lol. I personally think Karkadann and Sleipnir differ the most from Rapidash overall. Also, ppl may not be feeling Zhi Unicorn because it's Fire/Fighting lol

Yeah, maybe instead of tacking it onto Rapidash, they can use the Phooka concept as sort of its own thing. Like, make it the obligatory "gimmicky" Pokemon of the generation and let it have three different forms that it changes depending on the move it uses. It's complex enough to be its own thing, but too complex for a mega, I think.
I had a feeling that was the case. I pretty much only gave it a secondary Fighting type because it's essentially the "good guy" or "pure" type, and I read somewhere that the Zhi unicorn is said to have helped Chinese judges in the courthouses by killing the guilty and sparing the innocent (reasoning for the Ability I concocted). But honestly, I'll take another Fire/Fighting type over another Fire/Flying type, which is what a lot of people propose when they talk about a pegasus-based mega for Rapidash (like...aren't Megazard Y and Talonflame enough?).
