Description Not a good title but it'll do.

This one is for a friend of mine in 'Nam (I feel like an old man by saying that), who is currently living in Saigon. He was upset about the loss of traditional values in his country considering it was very heavy influenced by Western and Eastern cultures. It's hard to say but this is just something to cheer up and improve relations between our cultures. Too bad he doesn't have DA, at least I could share it with y'all. "Hi vọng bạn thích bức họa của tôi" (pure google translate btw)

For process that people would hardly like to know. Instead of the normal front view, I want to practice my lower angle view points. I could say it worked well but I'm not so much sure about that. There are some fluctuations in shading. There were some clothing folds but I found it way too difficult to get the colors right, not to mention the outfit is said to be transparent (I think). I couldn't add shadows to it. For the mane, I used the same technique as for my previous deviation. It looks better but it has that crystal reflection look to it. So far, he looks less like a colored bust and more 3D-like.

I could use some critiques on this. If you can, that would help me a lot in future drawings.

I think cultural clothes are important. It's really cool to see people wearing them; a few days ago, I saw a lady wearing a sari. I'm glad I go to a school where people wearing traditional, multicultural, etc stuff isn't uncommon (international/language focused school).

Thanks for kind words! He had some faith back about the cultural merges and he's starting to accept the change in belief. In short, he's doing fine.

That's Pretty cool what you are doing your friend.

Since you asked, I'll do my best to help.

I can totally see the angle you are going for but, the head piece and the shoulder placement is throwing it off.  For the nón lá (leaf hat) piece you would see more of under it instead of the top part.  Also the strap on the left we wouldn't see because it would be covered behind the head and the right strap would move over to the left a little.  For the shoulder on the left is a little harder to explain.  The shoulder should be some what non existent.  The chest should be a little more out.  Try to take a picture of yourself in that angle.  I know its not a lot of info to help sorry.

I understand the cloths and the cloth folding.  I haven't really practice that.  I have been trying out the different angles so I hope it helped a little.  Here look at this and hope it helps a little Tutorial
