The Phoenix on the Sword is deeply etched in crimson redOn blood I tread.
Not crushed by the Black Colossus' lingering green shade
In blood I trade.
From fumes and drought dost The Scarlet Citadel emerge
In blood I submerge.
Descending from The Tower of the Elephant I see the thief
Blood is my relief.
With Rogues in the House to unravel the uncanny potion of mirth
Blood is my birth.
The Gods of the North bow before my misty, rough-hewn cloak
With blood I soak.
The Queen of the Black Coast tried tame me but shrieked and fell
Barbaric now I yell.
Melted The Devil in Iron in the Styx with hot and savage blows
A warrior never slows.
Beyond the Black River I glimpsed my god glaring at a game of chess
His king I now possess.
Demons tried stop me grasp The Jewels of Gwahlur and have me slain
I strive in pain.
Nearly dead before the Shadows in Zamboula showed their scars
Life my road bars.
I died, alongside me The Hyborian Age came to a reverberating fall
But still I can enthrall.
It is no wonder I now bear Red Nails
And cannot utter with crushed lips...
The wraths of wizards are but dim gales
Compared to what I crushed with fists!

Hard to write I guess. But it moves you through with ease. It does remind you Conan the Barbarian (though I have never watched it).

The movie is nice, but you really need to read the original stories. A wealth of language that astounds me (as good as Poe's). Happy to know you liked it

I find it to be a bit forced because I wanted to incorporate a title of a Conan story into each stanza (chronologically ordered), and that made the meaning of the poem fade a bit...
