I like the idea behind the hair but depending on the artist, it gonna be hit or miss in terms of getting the right look. However I do suggest one approach that could make it easier.
Keep the hair the way it is on top, and just put the rest in a pony tail. Easy right?
Unless the flowing main (going down her neck) is required.

The costume looks okay but the hairstyle just....SHIT!

The costume is horrible. The haircut is horrible. In some of the new images, she looks like a Rodeo clown minus the makeup. Carol deserves better.

It gets to be too much? I have really tried to ignore it but all of the females in comics seem to "manning up"
With Ms. Marvel - I thought the first strike was giving Frank Cho too much credit for his version of her. Cho removed her high heels and gave her chunky flats. He also gave her jumbo curviness, like a reggae dancehall contestant, instead of the body of a peak-human athlete as gifted to her by Kree science. Than that Super Hero Squad TV show put her in pants, because even flat-soled thighboots may be viewed as too risque to kids (these days). Now she is in full cover, and like I said, much like a Rodeo outfit, glove tassles and all
