A twist on the Dutch tradition Sint Maarten (which is on the 11th of November) , it's a bit like halloween but the kids don't dress up and they walk around their neighbourhood with a lantern (selfmade or bought in a shop) and they sing songs in exchange for candy. It can be quite frightening to walk around on an autumn evening with only your lantern and the light of the houses around you. Especially with this kind of 'house'...Find me elsewhere:

Geweldig gebruik van kleuren. Vooral het dominante blauw en oranje.

Dat zongen wij altijd. Mijn ouders deden er niet echt aan, dus als er andere kindjes aan de kwamen ging ik gezellig met ze mee. Niet veel kinderen deden het hoor, maar in het dorp waar ik nu woon word er een enorme optocht gehouden en ze spelen het hele verhaal na.

Yes, Dutch traditions get some attention! I love Sint Maarten, can't wait for this year's local bonfire!
