I know, not one you'd probably expect from me... I've been checking out his gallery for a bit now, and the guy just blows me away... His coloring is just awesome, I'm sure you've seen some of his work once you check his gallery out . I've been picking up stuff from him here and there. His pencils are cool as well--kinda anime and kinda not, definitely not like some of the other comic artwork out there.
Again, a lot of this is learning on my part, figuring stuff out as I go... There's a lot here that I love how it came out, and there are some parts that I could probably do better. Let me know what you think, I'm all ears and my ego doesn't bruise easy.
Marte--I hope you like it, dude... I was going for a "What would Marte do", but then said "screw it" and just went for it. Muchas gracias for letting me color it!

hey man, sorry for not replying sooner, i just finished a book i was working on late deadline and couldn't think of anything else but work.
dood, this looks awesome, i like what you did with the skin colors and that tan line which makes him really hot. (lol sorry about that)
i just feel you need to make stronger sun highlights, the halo you added is kinda shy, do it more noticeable so the "sun light" effect makes sense.
Also, try not using primary colors that are too saturated, they just won't blend properly-
i love the mood of the pic, but most of all the Vaules, coloring is all about Values, and you nailed it.

Yeah, I had the same thought about the sun light, that maybe I wasn't giving enough... I kept adding a bit more, and a bit more, and it still needs it in the hair... It's cool to get that reinforcement from you.
The tan line--well, you know, with the way his shorts are sagging a bit, he's bound to be showing some sort of lighter skin, right? Unless, well, never mind...
I'm realizing that saturation bit as well... I'm starting to get the hang of how that works. Plus, out of all the tips I've read, I like how a lot of times you work from a dark base color out (which I did on most of this but shorts--I don't know why I did that).
You rock, man!

BTW, I took your advice about the light... There's more of a dynamic now. I'm sure I could do it better, but it does look better!

The shine is my half-assed attempt at adding a glare to his neck...
