I can't remember what the initial a does, ahaha. I think it lowers the tone, but I could be wrong. And then, khyu instead of gyu because the superscript ra raises the tone of the mu.
Remember that only only one character per syllable gets a vowel--thus, the da after the re and the sa after the ga just modify it. I'm not sure what gives the sa the right to turn the ga into a pa, but the da acts as a glottal stop.
