really striking image. i love the colors in the background, but the black part is so interesting! i suppose it's a tree, but the posture reminds me of lovers' entanglement, really nice work. I bet the gold looks incredible in person.

So, did you go to the Light of Winter festival??

Do you mean this : [link] ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Acro88 In reply to Naze-Melnyk [2007-12-31 02:28:50 +0000 UTC]

I meant did you celebrate Alban Arthan in any sort of festive activity. Alban Arthan=Light of Winter in Welsh, I believe. The Neo-druidism holyday that the battle of the Holley and Oak kings is all about, metaphorically personifying the celestial activity of the Winter Solstice, is called Alban Arthan. Alban Hefin is the Summer solstice holyday.

Ah I see I misunderstood what you meant interestingly, according to an older interpretation, the name is "Alban Arthuan" and means "Light of Arthur, (but this still echoes the traditional mid-winter 'godhead' myth you mention)

I was planning on going to stonehenge (I live nearby) as it was predominantly a midwinter monument (despite its popularity at midsummer!) unfortunately I didnt make it there... next year definitely... do you celebrate the solstices then?

Acro88 In reply to Naze-Melnyk [2008-01-02 03:50:16 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I heard something about the older translation, however I have yet to personally go on the adventure of tracing it through specific myths to better explore the connection. Could be interesting.

Although I am aware of the solstice festivities of many cultures, I have yet to personally partake in any form of ritual of celebration. I live in America, as it were, and I don't think most people here could tell you what a solstice or equinox is. Its all plastice and sunshine here. It kind of makes me sick.

So, how badass is it to live near Stonehenge?

What part of the US do you live in? Its not all like that surely? There are some beautiful places in America and some great radical ideas and minds have come out of it ... I know the government stinks, but whats new??! Are there many like-minded people where you live?

Im really lucky to live where I do (English countryside - akin to the shire) and there are a fair few ancient monuments around here [link] Its a good idea to research the history of the land in your area ....connecting with the land definitely helps you to feel more at one ... the resacralisation of both time (the ancient festivals) and space (tha ancient places of power) is a practical way for humans to tune into 'gaia' and become more part of the earth, reversing the separation that has occured over the last couple of milennia.... ritual collective ecstatic dancing also helps reverse the same separation between people

I am lucky enough to live in Oregon. I've been other places, and I must say the people here aren't as brainwashed. I have six or seven Indigo friends, and a few shamans, including my uncle, though I have yet to meet him.

I have been meaning to go talk to some natives concerning oregon's history since they(our government) leaves everything before the american 'wild west' image out. I fuckin' hate government....If they didn't brainwash people, we'd be able to care for ourselves, but most seem ignorant to anything that isn't consumer based. Its fucking aggravating. Its like you're speaking another language to them sometimes, because all they understand is commercial buy/sell language and patriotic ramblings that confuse and arouse them into a frenzy. buncha sharks have taught us to be sharks. Its bullshit. I have never been part of a ritual, as my family is a bunch of god-fearing America-loving Christians. I have kept an open mind and absorbed all knowledge I could find on other cultures religions etc to get an idea of what we are actually doing here, and it seems no one picks up on the obvious here. Its all blind faith and flag waving. grrrr I fucking hate it. IT'll change, though, one way or another..

I too, become angered at the stranglehold that profit has over our planet... propaganda via mass media is a very effective strategy! I am lucky to live in Britain, there is still some knowledge of folklore and ancient traditions, as well as monuments to visit. (not so much christian evangelism here either ) I can totally understand your rage! But, change comes from within..... when the people awaken I suppose (tolerance being the major hurdle!) Im hoping that the physical interweb we have created is a manifestation of the awakening of the etheric interweb facilitating a creeping acceleration of the realisation of one-ness!

PLUR!

hell yeah, thanks dude!

The Christian shit does get old fast, but I do try to be the change I wish to see in the world. I share the same hopes as you. I believe that all this technology we have are external manifestations of the capabilities of our internal technologies.

PLUR(?)
