Thanks for taking me back to the moment I looked back on my girlhood realized I liked Optimus Prime and Captain Picard was because they were like me, and the reason I liked Kira Nerys and Jen the Pink Ranger is because they were not.

Lovely piece, brings back memories of my childhood playing pretend.
This fits very well with another recent DD, almost like the two pieces were meant to be together; thought you might want to check it out: fav.me/d71xcpk

A friend of mine asked me to writte this to comment your lovely poem:
"I wish my parents would've followed that advice to the very end. Sadly, after my 11 years of age, they decided that I had no age to dream and now, them empty boxes store only dead dreams. Now, I'm forced to become what they wish and not what I wish and I have no escape from them.
Thank you for writting such a lovely poem. If I ever have a daughter, I'll follow that advice. If I have a son, I'll do it anyways. I'll keep those words in my heart."

My heart honestly breaks for your friend if that is the situation she's in. Obviously I don't know her life or family, or the context she is in, but I will urge her not to give up on those dreams, you can never be a slave to your parents forever, it is your life and you have every right to do with it as you wish. I hope honestly that her situation improves, that she finds a way to make her parents understand, and if not that she can find a way out of their shadows to live happily and freely.
