Description From a Sky Gazer

I want to say
"My love for you is like a supernova."
but that would be a lie.
It's more like a red giant
growing unrecognizably bigger than its protostar.

What started out as a confusing cloud
somehow manifested itself into this
glowing
self-sufficient
sun.

I've never wanted anything more than to just stare
into your light
until the very end
wishing there was no end.

I want to say
"This feeling burns across my chest like a shooting star."
but that would be inaccurate
because a meteor's life is counted in seconds
and you're more like the cosmos
with me as the galaxy at your very edge.

Like another satellite, I'm drawn into your gravitation.
But instead of burning in your atmosphere
I dressed myself as a planet
and orbit beside you
like a binary star, almost.

How long can I ride this solar flare?
Even nebulae die with time
but I'll try to unlearn this when I'm basking in your smile.
In my mind, there's nothing more beautiful
than the constellations of your soul.

I want to say
"You mean the universe to me."
but that would be misleading.
Instead you are just the sparkles in the night
the only ones I see
when I want to see
something breathe taking.
