UPDATED: three years after submitting this picture I eventually decided it was time to work on it again by refining the graphics and adding some "mood" to the scene.
I dont know why but I always waited and never deleted it.
Please let me know what you think about it now.

I love the little detail that soldiers are in order of colour but bishops are in pairs with each other.
It makes me think that when the king and queen are getting married, the bishops can also reveal their secret relationships.
So dramatic
But I love the composition,

It's very symbolic. I love it. And it reminds me of an old story piece I have in some worn in notebook about The Red Queen and The White King (a "Through the Looking Glass" Reference).
This actually makes me want to work on it...

Great work, wonderful concept and I am super jealous of your chess set. What a wonderful collection. I have multiple chess sets myself, but nothing this wonderful.
I have a thing about taking photos of chess pieces and have to control the urge so as not to let it dominate my work. However, this is an inspiration to get them out and shoot them some more.
