Many species of dragon take up residence in caves to avoid the watchful eye of man. Some even go so far as to find ways to make their homes less appealing than usual to the average passerby, ranging from enchanting them to have an ominous feel, to leaving the bones of their prey strewn about the entrance as a warning.

However, dragons themselves rarely like to live in doom and gloom. Deep in their caves, their abodes are often illuminated, if not lavishly decorated. This is not to aid the dragon’s vision, since most breeds can see excellently in low lighting conditions. They illuminate the caves so that the natural translucency of the formations can be showcased.
