Description the sin of sloth was know as "sadness" until the 17th century or so, which i found interesting. how did the church make sadness laziness? anyway, the colour associated with this sin is light blue ( i don't really like light blue so i cheated a little and went with some turqoise...) and the animal associated with the sin is the goat. the infernal punishment for sloth is being thrown into a lovely snake pit.

Wow, jeez... seems like we're all destined for hell... unless there's anyone who knows how to not be human for their whole lives...

Very beautiful. Having the snake curled in the blanket is an excellent touch.

To be quite literal, sloth is my favorite deadly sin.

This is my favourite thus far. It's beautiful. I love her little pet. She doesn't really seem to be suffering, but I'm alright with that. I'm thinking she's the symbol of the sin and not necessarily the sinner.

Gorgeous work.

being a sinner doesn't mean you suffer. it only means you suffer in hell thanks!

Sadness? That's interesting. I don't see how it could possibly be sinful to be sad; after all, depressing things happen that are out of our control. Ah, well; the church is weird... and your portrayal of this sin is absolutely beautiful. I love that goat.

I think it was probably sadness in the sense of listlessness, which isn't really a far cry from lazy to the people who are watching.

back then they probably saw it differently... if you were depressed and didn't work, that probably meant you're lazy. renaming the sin was probably an effort to be a little more up to date ;] but i don't know, just speculating. thanks.

this is a very interesting interpretation, it really hits the spot. though i've seen your other 'deadly sins' works, i like this one most, partly because i'm being bias and i love the color blue hahaha but also because honestly, you make the punishment seem like a vacation
your illustrations are so lovely, like childrens' story books. very imaginative ;__; <3

and one last thing, i always assossiated sloth with the snail because of old paintings i've seen on the subject, but here the goat suits nicely~ it's so cuuuute~
