If you have ever watched Disney's (Beauty and the beast).
True Tamaki is the "prince type". But I find Haruhi more like Belle in Disney's version sins she is smart, want's more than the town can offer and is not very girlish and do not fit with the "stereotyped" behaviors we associate with women and girls.

I also like the fact that you kept Haruhi's dress quite simple. It makes it more elegant. (rather than a very decorative and huge ball gown).

True she really isn't girly. The first time the Host club met her they all believed she was a boy. She wasn't even upset over it. I think Haruhi doesn't see boys or girls differently. How would she otherwise been able to pull off being a host?

I think that Ranka is Tamaki in a few years. Those two are very much alike when it comes to personality. Esepcially when it comes to taste in women. Ryoji "Ranka" Fujioka fell in love with Kotoko whom we know from Haruhi was an law attorney and described as both very smart and open-minded.
Tamaki Suoh fell in love with Haruhi. A girl that is also very smart and Haruhi is very open minded and are very good at analyzing situations and take things calmly where the other host members would freak out. (Ok mostly Tamaki.)
Tamaki and Ranka well they are more girly than Haruhi, and she is a girl.
