Name: Senka (meaning ‘to seek’ or ‘to search for’)
Relationships: Mate of Muruthi ; Mother of Themba
Pride: Nyasi Pride (birth)

History: Senka was born amongst the many prides that inhabited the Great Plain before the forming of the Nyasi Pride. When Sebahive and his sons set out to conquer the land, Senka’s pride was quickly brought under their rule. When the territory was divided between Muruthi, Mflame and Kwetu, Senka and her pride were given to Muruthi.

At first, Senka is hostile toward her new liege lord, snarling and making threats of violence whenever he dares approach her and makes sure that he knows how unwelcome he is amongst them. To her, Muruthi is a vile conqueror and has no right to claim ownership of the land her family had lived on for generations. She would not be bowed no matter how strong Muruthi and his family were. However, her rebelliousness did not go unnoticed and Muruthi resolved to keep a closer eye on her in case she tried to rebel against him and his family.

However, as time passed by and Muruthi tried to rule his new pride with both strength and compassion, Senka was forced to reassess her view of him. Was he truly a monster if he was willing to try to unite them and do so without simply beating them down into submission? With this change of heart, Senka went from being an enemy to a powerful ally of her new leader and the two were quick to form a friendship. With her change of heart, soon her pridemembers too began to see the young lion in a new light and grew to respect and trust him.

Eventually, Senka grew to love Muruthi and he loved her in return. The two became mates and solidified Muruthi's rule over the pride permanently, finally they accepted him with open arms and warm hearts. It wasn't long before Senka became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter she named Themba, to signify the hope of a peaceful and prosperous future. She didn't know that her happiness and her family would not last much longer and that storm clouds were brewing on the horizon.

Senka was killed whilst defending her daughter, Themba, when Muruthi tried to escape the Great Plain after Mfalme's betrayal of his brother. Her death would haunt Muruthi until the end of his days.
