One concept for the Bolo MK XXIII/B Invincibilis experimental. Nike! Work in progress - waiting in along que actually, hahahah.I will probably change the design since this one seems too flawed.
Bolos were created by Keith Laumer. David Weber wrote the short story on 0075 NKE 'Nike'.

...Yeah, this was probably one of the more moving Bolo stories I read. Seen this drawing floating around on the net for years, and really glad to finally find the person who drew it!

I just finished reading BOLO! this was one of the two favourites stories, the other being 'with your shield'. you should do Bolo Benjy.

I tried drawing Nike since I wanted to try to visualize a Bolo, and at the time I had seen very few images of them at all (there just were very few in existence it seems). I liked how the story's author gave a few physical stats on "her" dimensions which made it easier to go about trying to draw "her". I have thought of drawing some other Bolo types, but haven't got around to it.

Naw, turrets should further apart, Hellebores need to be much wider the mortars are in the center between the turrets and the infinite repeaters deploy from within they're not permanently exposed where is the target and sensor suite? and the VRL's Vertical Rocket Launchers? they are under cover unless being used. your tracks are too close in the center. It is a very nice effort but I've been studying these beasties before you were born. Try again, you have the talent for it got the massiveness right but the turrets should be just large enough for the Hellebore mechanism which means the Hellebores are larger in diameter. Get your infinite repeaters lower on the hull they're for antipersonnel also mine launchers lasers and all the they're sensor and targeting feeds. you need track shields also.
Excellent first try, remember a BOLO has Fusion powerplants for weapons and drive system and they have to be in there somewhere! SO turrets smaller and further apart. Remember a BOLO is covered with sensor suites and point defense. I like it for a first try!!!!
You must understand the situation in Miles to Go if you don't you understand what the writer was trying to convey, desperation, loneliness, duty, honor AND a BOLO never ever quits.

Because its an excellent 'militaristic' sounding name that means victory. It doesn't have to be anymore complicated than that!
Oh...and its a female name which applies to many of his construct's personalities.

I'm trying to model her in 3d studio max. And you know, I think you captured her very well. While I see a few things I thing is different, You still did wonderful. I'd like to see a better detailed version.

Thanks. I tried to follow the book's description of dimensions armament and physical features. Ill have to redraw it. I lost the original anyway. The newer book Old Soldiers has a different look from the styles of a lot of the previous book cover's concepts for Bolos. I didnt like many of the Bolo depictions on a lot of the book covers. Good luck on your Nike rendition (if you have not already made it).

One of the best Bolo pictures I've seen. Make it a little more streamlined and it'll look great plus make the hellbores a little longer.I always thought she had both hellbores in one turret.
I liked "Brothers" in book 5. That was really sad.

Thanks. Read the story again, or skim it at least to the part with the Nike physical description. Nike would not have survived the fight with the pack of two Golems if it were not for her having two turrets operating separately with each one trained on its own target, - instead of a two Hellbores on one turret configuration.

'Miles to Go' is my favorite Bolo story.

The story with the ART / LNC persuit was engaging too.
Even though it was dang good how it was written I guess, I always wanted a different ending and continuation out of Miles To go. It just doesnt seem like the characters got to do as much as they should and were going to do.
