this is INCREDIBLE -
im starting out in graffiti,
but do you have any tips or advise i may use?
i honestly can't handle the sprays, the lines end up too thick and unlean, and i can't do anythig artistic with them

you need to get some good quality spraypaint,and lots of different nozzles,montana,belton,monster have a look online.
Youtube has a few tutorials I think,but like playing a musical instrument,practice helps the most.

The light and shadow on the face is extraordinary. I always wonder, when you're painting something like this which is a big scale, do you constantly have to step back to check the proportions? Do you make a simple outline first and then fill it in or just paint from scratch and see where it takes you? I'm really intrigued because your work is stunning and I've never tried spray painting so I don't know anything about it.

I start by looking at my reference material,which in this case was a printout,and mentally placing it on the wall for five minutes or so.I then paint in light marks and points,corner of the eyes,bottom of the chin,lip corners,tip of the nose,there is alot of stepping back and checking,I was using ladders too so it took even longer.
After a while it starts to come together and I feel more fluid with the paint and then it gets interesting for me.
I love spraypaint,I think it just takes a little getting used to,the main things being that your not actually touching the wall(which is strange compared to a brush or pencil) and the spray line changes width and density depending on how far away you hold the can from the surface.
I think this wall took the two of us about 4 hours.
Im happy to answer anymore questions about spraypaint,but Im no expert.

Thanks so much for thr reply, I always find it interesting how different artists work and begin items, especially when it's a medium I'm not familiar with. A friend of mine at uni was a graffiti artist, he really enjoyed making it into a recognisable image. Have you ever been to Barcelona? There's some great graffiti art scattered around the city.

It looks damn gorgeous whether you're looking at the elements on their own or at the whole thing. I love the face and the way the hands are placed in front of it somehow adds a lot to it.

Yeah,I think the hands make it work from my part,zip made his letters follow the hand shape which helped alot.I enjoy painting with other artists,collaborating seems like an artform in itself,that Im only just begining to learn.This one was real good fun to paint.
