Description Pentakis Dodecahedron
aka Christmas Star

My second sonobe modular. It didn't take very long - it took longer to fold the modules than it did to put it together.

DON'T ASK ME HOW I MADE IT - I just took sonobe modules and stuck them together in rings of 5. All the instructions online were too vague so I had to wing it.

Number of modules required: 60

Edit

Here's a short tutorial I made: mystichuntress.wordpress.com/2…

This is wonderful! Papercraft puts me in complete awe sometimes.. Great job! Especially for something you just winged!

I saw that thingy in class! It's awesome! (In the original sense, i.e. inducing awe; not that diluted informal meaning)

And just like that, you've found my DeviantArt account. Luckily I don't have anything on it, haha

hahaha thanks Chris
In case you haven't noticed, it's hanging from the ceiling of Mr V's class~

this is made all the more awesome by the fact you winged it and it turned out so good!

Thank you
Actually, the reason it looks so good is because I took advantage of the fact that I can take a picture from particular angles so that you can't see the "bad" side, with all the holes. hahaha

Doesn't look as neat in person.

Hello!

I actually got around to making the tutorial for it: I hope it's not too blurry for you.

Enjoy

Psst: If you put in a solid 2 hours, you can have this done before Christmas, starting completely from scratch. If you have friends helping, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

hehe thanks
Start with learning how to make the module. Then, you can just improvise and make your own shapes.

I'm impressed. I can't even get a single sheet folded in half evenly never mind that!

It doesn't take overly long to put it together. As long as you have slaves to make the modules for you hehehe.

Hello!

I see you asked how I made my pentakis dodecahedron aka Christmas star.

If you're interested, I made a sketchy tutorial here:

I hope it's not too blurry.

It will take 2 hours, starting completely from scratch.

30 minutes if you have a couple of friends helping.

I just put them together. It's hard to explain and no online instructions do it well enough. I didn't bother with videos because my computer doesn't load videos

I think so too!
I particularly like making modulars with pentagons in them, because the 72 degree angle is so hard to make so precisely.
