… I think I recall the turtles being teenagers at some point?
One of my favorite things in the 2012-version of TMNT is the fact that Raphael has a pet. But I can’t help but think that Michelangelo must have been just a teeny tiny bit jealous of him as kids… Considering his personality, you just know that Mikey would LOVE to have a pet of his own. Something to cuddle and take care of. Well, lucky that Spike isn't the only turtle in the lair. (Hungry, Leo?)
I also have a head canon where Mikey sorta resents Spike for hogging all Raph’s love and attention. We never see him interact with Spike, and he barely even mentions him on the show, despite the fact that Mikey obviously likes animals.
… Or maybe he’s simply learned after fifteen years of painful reminders that Raph’s stuff is off limits.
But today he has Ice cream-Kitty. And they’re hitting it off famously.
