Just finished these two. They'll be goodbye presents for the two little girls I'm a nanny for (I'm leaving for another job on Saturday).One's a cat, one's a dog and they can kiss!
I sewed magnets into the plushies right behind where their mouths are. The magnets are strong enough to hold just one of the plushies without the other one falling off! 
At first they had buttons as noses, but they got into the way of the kissing, so I took them off and embroidered noses on instead. I had to do that after I finished the dolls up, so the noses are a little crocked
I still like the overall look of the plushies though
They are rather small, about 15cm (~ 6 inches) tall. Both are cut from the same pattern, so they're both the same size, though on the photo the cat looks a bit taller.
I drew the pattern up myself, the limbs are all filled and sewn individually and then attached into the body while sewing the body's outline.Took two evenings to finish, so about 2 hours each I'd say.

These are adorable, and the magnet idea is just awesome, too - I never would have thought of that! I like the embroidered noses a lot more than button ones either way - I think it just helps accentuate the stitching around the outside!

The nose buttons were round, without holes in them, so they did look like little plushie noses, not like buttons... but I think I prefer these stitched noses too, just wish I would have embroidered them before assembling the plushies, then they'd have looked better
