A request from bently96 that I finally got to work on. It has a shiny butt and shiny bits!Edit: Alright, that's enough with the caption. He was annoying, though, and that's not even counting the PM exchanges. Do mind the manner in which you treat the artists who are giving you free stuff, people.

I apologize, but I'm afraid I can't do that. I don't know when I'll be taking commissions again. Reserving slots means that I could be taking away the opportunity to commission me from people who are actually interested and capable at that time, because of other people who may not be interested or capable of paying at that time. Please understand, you'll just have to stay tuned.

Well... I'm really shocked! bently96 is a really nice and elegant person in the way he makes his requests. Maybe you didn't have a good experience, but... was this really necessary? Why not just refuse the request, if I may ask?

The most blatant annoyances, consisting of repeated insistent reminders and status update demands, occurred after I accepted the request. Which, by the way, was asked for despite me clearly stating on my profile that I was not taking them. That is not very nice or elegant, by my standards.
But it's partly my fault that I let myself be sweet-talked into accepting it. Of course, once I did, I was bound to finish it, since I never go back on such commitments. In retrospect, the fact that such perfect flattery came along out of nowhere at the same time the request was made, is very telling.

As someone who's gotten multible requests from Myke, I can say that he is busy and has lots of other art that he likes do... Some of which for charity and others things for people other then himself. He loves to give and finds himself often not able to say no if the person is polite. The problem comes when people start poking him to work faster or do their request sooner. Or that they only talk to him for the purpose of art. Let me also add that Myke never does mech. Look through his gallery and you'll find this is probably his only mech type thing.
I'm assuming that he probably tried to rush him, which Myke STILL did the art, and probably gave him a copy without the text. This little jab is really more of a joke then anything, probably... But this all my assumptions

I understand. And I'm sure he's a good person. But you say it yourself: "finds himself often not able to say no if the person is polite". So... if bently was polite, why doing this? I'm just saying it's not nice, that's all. But you're entitled to your opinion, and of course, to defend your friend. I'm just a little shocked, I guess. I think it would have been nicer of him to reject the request.

I'm huge on encouraging people to develop their art skills at least to the point where they are able to do a satisfactory job of putting their visions to the canvas. It is not at everyone's reach, but most people, I feel, give up too early on that potential, because they're not able to garner the necessary perseverance. It is one of my missions to inspire people who I perceive to possess potential to try and become the best artists they can be.
The ones that never get that far can just pay the ones that do to draw for them. Now that's fair.
