Fun fact, just cause I just saw this comment - my mom actually has vitiligo! She is especially annoyed at it now that she is at Gran Canaria and getting really tan!

Oh wow really? I always wondered if she has to use any special sunscreen for it because of the difference in pigmentation (I haven't looked into the science of it yet 
I hope she is enjoying her time there despite the tanning issues ^^

She probably should, but I don't think she does. I don't think she generally takes it into consideration, given we're all pale skinned normally. It is still visible when she isn't tan, but not as it is now.

Well, it is certainly generally more *visible* on darker skinned people, but the effect in the skin itself should be the same? I mean, even when the normal skin tans, the vitiligo patches remain very pale :3

I assumed it might have more impact on darker skin because normally their skin is better equipped to deal with sunlight, but I suppose overall its the same effect ^^
