Did you take out the red channel from the layer?
π: 0 β©: 1
MVRamsey In reply to AviArts [2012-11-18 15:32:08 +0000 UTC]
Yes, from one layer...took the blue and green out of another. Once I turned the red channel's blending mode to "difference" it looked normal again. Then I applied the depth map to each layer.

Awesome! The 3D effect looks really nice and poppy.
What program did you use to do this? I'd like to try it on some of my art

I use Photoshop CS2, though I've been told that a program called "Gimp" can also be used..as I'm sure many other graphic programs can.
I learned how to do this by following this excellent tutorial: [link] and through trial and error I've learned a few tricks along the way. Give it a try, and feel free to post your work here, I'd love to see what you come up with. *S*

Thanks! I tried it out and it's pretty good, but I'm getting pretty bad ghosting. [link]
Like around her head and shoulder, and on the guns.
Any idea what's causing that?

You may be making the depth map shading around those areas a bit too precise...sounds crazy, but it's often better to give it a good blur..make it a bit fuzzy..and go a tad bit over the outline. Not sure if I'm explaining it very well...check out a depth map I did awhile back..[link] you can see how the edges all look a bit more blurry...turns out that it does help in cutting down the ghosting problem. I still run into that problem sometimes too.

hoe did you do the red and cyan efect??
π: 0 β©: 1
MVRamsey In reply to CarlyPandy [2012-11-18 00:36:01 +0000 UTC]
I had to duplicate the layer, remove all the red from one layer and all the blue and green from the other layer, then set the blending mode to "difference". Once I applied the depth map that I had to create, it creates the anaglyph 3-D effect. Trust me, it's easier than I make it sound. *lol*

Good job with the 3D, the effect is facinating although the conversion looks a bit awkward around her abdomen/crotch. But other than that it looks good.

Yeah, I noticed that to as I was making it...no matter what I did I couldn't seem to get past that distortion. I'm still working on it, though...if I get it figured out I'll replace it with the new one.

This totally works with 3D glasses :I Just gotta have the pink/red on the left side of the glasses though. I wonder, did you use overlay layers of color or did you over lay the image with color alterations of red and blue to get it to do that?
π: 0 β©: 1
MVRamsey In reply to GentleLarke [2012-11-17 15:41:19 +0000 UTC]
Actually I had to create a depth map of the image first, then duplicate the image layer and alter the color of each layer to red and cyan...once they're blended and a shift of -5/+5 is done, the image comes out as an anaglyph 3-D image. Believe it's easier than I just made it sound. *lol*
