Ten years ago, I was watching clips from the latest episode from South Park where Kenny gets addicted to smelling cat pee (really!) and he starts hallucinating that he is in this fantastical world where he is chosen to be the suitor to a scantily clad woman with big boobs. The hallucination sequences where inspired by an animated movie from 1981 called Heavy Metal. I later on purchased the DVD from HMV and ....the movie was certainly something different. It was an anthology movie about all these different stories taking place through time and space, and they all seem to be connected to this evil glowing green rock called the Loc-Nar, with added sex, drugs, blood and good ole, heavy duty, badass rock and roll. There was also plenty of talent involved, such as John Candy, August Schellenburg, Roger Bumpass, Susan Roman, Eugene Levy, Alice Playten, Marilynn Lightstone and even Harold Ramis!

This drawing depicts Taarna, a silent warrioress who is summoned to protect a civilisation from invading barbarians. But when she is too late to stop them from massacring the city, she sets out on her pterodactyl like mount to avenge them. I was inspired to draw this after seeing that Taarna now has her own Funko Pop! bobble head in Forbidden Planet.
