Well, here it is; my big background project. Finally finished
This was like a three-way street of hitting several birds with at least one stone: firstly it introduces three babs of mine, in order from left to right are Belli, Ssuvir, and Pueris. I bought Belli and won Pueris from Twozzie , who also created their species, Chompets (go check them out, they're adorable little things). Belli and Pueris are Ssuvir's two (of probably three or more) pets that help him in his profession; treasure hunting. It sounds more exciting than it is, though. X3 For Bestiæ, there are - usually nomadic, lone-wolf types - who are classed as either "treasure hunters" or "collectors" who try to find valuable items and trade them for other valuable items to increase their horde or collection. Ssuvir is the "treasure hunter" variety who can be hired to go and find something, and who mostly looks around for valuable things rather than a set collection of objects. It's basically impossible to cheat a seasoned treasure hunter, especially of the Bestiæ variety, but there have been cases of early hunters being swindled for a valuable hunt and little payout. Ssuvir is no exception. By now he's in his 30s (or, human equivalent thereof) and he's adopted some Chompets to help him in his hunt. Since they're good diggers, he goes mining more often (thus the cave; they just finished a mining session. I guess they weren't very successful though 'cause Ssuvir doesn't look very happy).
So now I've introduce these three cuties! The other points I practiced were: I got more texture for SAI! Including a cloud brush. I like it. :3 Lighting was interesting, I'm still working on light theory and how to make it look like it's properly coming from a source and bouncing off objects. Another was backgrounds, obviously; Line differences, depth placement, etc., were still what was being worked here. I actually started this piece at the suggestion of Octeapi during one of her streams a while back (I started this one before the other line difference piece, so...a while ago). I sketched it out in my sketch book to figure out the basics and then I've been translating it to digital since then. I'm not sure how well I did with the rock textures or shapes, I'm gonna keep trying to figure out how textures work. So yeah! I'm pretty proud of how this came out! I might upload the sketches to scraps because I like how they turned out too (there's something about the roughness of sketches that look nice, I think), but for now.... Yaaay! I'm done with my big background project!
