Description I thought I should do a spiral for a change, but I got a bit distracted. You can just see it in the middle if you look carefully!

WOW! I'm going nutz wandering thru your gallery. This one, too, is exceptional. Where have you been hiding?? Ah, the fault is mine that I don't spend enough time wading thru all the flames to find these I guess.

Careful...you may have outdone yourself this time! Agree with LaPurr...looking out a porthole is the first thing that entered my mind when I saw this.

Muruku In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-11-23 19:17:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, for fav too. Trying to think what I need to be careful about . It was called "porthole", even before I put the sea in. Then the inner spiral turned into a sunset so....

ArtistInWaiting In reply to Muruku [2006-11-24 00:21:12 +0000 UTC]

My "careful" caution was sort of a joke. Sometimes artwork can be so good, we hit a blank wall. Not that I think you could, understand. Your UF works are masterpieces. How long have you been using the program? You are certainly expert in your handling of it.

I've had the program for a little less than 2 years and still feel like a kid in a candy store! Thanks to many people here at DA, I've gotten a lot of help with it. (If you go through my gallery you can see how much better I've gotten, and still have a long way to go!)

Muruku In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-11-24 23:53:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh no. I certainly understand that. It happens every time. Takes ages of messing about before thinking there is something else worth doing. I have used UF for about 6 years, including a 2 year gap using xenodream. Made a quantum step after joining DA though, really by seeing good examples.

ArtistInWaiting In reply to Muruku [2006-11-25 00:13:05 +0000 UTC]

6 years of using UF...it sure does show! I've always wanted to get into Xenodream, but it has gotten so expensive. Wish I could find an old version of it, that way if it is too much for me, I wouldn't have spent a huge chunk of change. Have been putting things in Bryce, but not very good at it. Besides you are putting it onto a shape instead of making it the shape, like in Xeno.

DA certainly gives you something to strive for. There are good fractalists on Rendo, but for some reason they don't seem as friendly as here. And people aren't afraid to share pointers here, that is really a big help to the newbies.

xraynet [2006-11-15 00:51:40 +0000 UTC]

Once again you've used the fractal genre in a non-standard way to make a very pleasing image. Well done .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Muruku In reply to xraynet [2006-11-15 01:36:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. You are right. It is very non-standard. I try to always keep some essence genuine fractal self repetition, but it is a bit thin here - the barely visible spiral at the centre, and, if you look very carefully, some scaled repetition in the colouring of the frame! Also very unusual for me because it uses three different formulae - I just had to to put the sea in.

Looking at a sunset through the porthole of an ocean liner, but an ocean liner made with wonderful, classic details: polished wood paneling and wooden trim around the porthole. This image creates an entire scenario for me and I can envision men in tuxedos and women in evening gowns, champagne and long cigarettes and a slower, more elegant pace to life. Weird, huh?

Great originality and execution.
